👥 Sub Users

Sub Users let you share server management with friends or co-admins without giving them your ZomboidHost account credentials. Each sub user gets their own ZomboidHost account and can be granted exactly the access they need.

🔑 Sub users access the server through their own ZomboidHost account - they log in at the login page and will see the shared server on their dashboard. No Pterodactyl panel access is ever needed.

Adding a Sub User

  1. On the manage page, click the 👥 Sub Users tab.
  2. Enter the sub user's ZomboidHost username. They must already have a registered account.
  3. Select the permissions you want to grant (see below).
  4. Click Add Sub User.

The sub user will see the server listed on their dashboard the next time they log in.

Permissions

PermissionWhat it grants
Power Start, stop, restart, and kill the server from the Power tab.
Settings View and save game settings (players, passwords, PvP, mods, etc.) from the Settings tab. Also includes Danger Zone actions (rename, admin password, auto-update).
Files Browse, view, and edit files via the Files tab. Useful for giving a trusted admin access to the .ini or mod configs without full shell access.
Console Read the server console output and send commands from the Console tab.

Removing a Sub User

On the Sub Users tab, find the sub user in the list and click Remove. The server will immediately disappear from their dashboard - no action is needed on their end.

What Sub Users Can't Do

  • Sub users cannot delete the server - only the owner can.
  • Sub users cannot add or remove other sub users.
  • Sub users cannot see each other - each only sees their own access.
  • A sub user can only access permissions explicitly granted to them. If "Settings" is not checked, they see the Settings tab with a permission error.

Use Case Examples

  • Friend helping moderate - Grant Power + Console. They can restart the server and kick griefers without touching any settings.
  • Co-admin managing a community server - Grant all four permissions so they can handle day-to-day admin fully.
  • Modder managing the mod list - Grant Settings only. They can update Workshop IDs without touching the console.
