Terms of Service

TL;DR: This service is free and ad-supported. Our sponsor banner is first-party and adblock-resistant by design - you agree not to deliberately hide it. Break the rules, lose your account.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By registering for an account on Zomboid Host ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not register or use the Service.

2. The Ad-Supported Model & Adblock Policy

Zomboid Host is provided entirely free of charge. Server hosting, bandwidth, electricity, and maintenance costs are funded entirely through advertising revenue - including our Premium Partner sponsored banner slot.

You are free to use adblockers for third-party ad networks. However, as a condition of using this free service, you must not actively circumvent our Premium Partner banner. This banner:

  • Is served entirely from our own domain - no third-party ad network is involved
  • Is rendered inside a Shadow DOM element using inline image data - there are no external image URLs to block
  • Contains no tracking pixels, retargeting scripts, or malicious code
  • Has every sponsor's redirect URL manually reviewed before activation

Because the banner is served inline from our own infrastructure it will not be blocked by standard adblocker rules. You agree not to use custom CSS overrides, browser extensions, or any other technique to deliberately hide or remove it.

Using uBlock Origin or similar? The banner is rendered inside a Shadow DOM - standard cosmetic filters cannot reach it and no whitelist rule is needed. If you have added a custom rule targeting our footer content element, please remove it. The banner is first-party, tracking-free, and manually reviewed.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to register. By registering, you represent that you meet this requirement.

4. Account Responsibilities

  • You are responsible for all activity on your account.
  • You must keep your password secure and not share your account.
  • You must provide accurate registration information.
  • One free server per account. Creating multiple accounts to obtain additional servers is prohibited.

5. Server Usage Rules

Your server must not be used for:

  • Hosting anything other than Project Zomboid game servers
  • Illegal activities of any kind
  • Cryptocurrency mining
  • Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks
  • Spam, phishing, or malware distribution
  • Harassment, abuse, or harm to other players
  • Storing copyrighted content you do not have rights to

6. Resource Limits

Each free server is allocated:

  • 4 GB RAM
  • 20 GB disk storage
  • 200% CPU (2 virtual cores)
  • Up to 100 simultaneous players (limited by your server's allocated resources)

Intentional resource abuse (e.g. running CPU-heavy scripts unrelated to gameplay) will result in account suspension.

7. Uptime & Availability

The Service is provided on a best-effort basis from a home server. We make no guarantees of uptime, availability, or data preservation. Servers may be temporarily unavailable during maintenance windows. Back up your world saves regularly. We are not responsible for data loss.

8. Server Inactivity

Servers that have not been started in 30 days may be automatically suspended to free up resources. You will receive a warning before deletion. Suspended servers can be resumed by logging in.

9. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account at any time for violation of these Terms or for any reason we deem necessary to protect the Service and its users. No refunds apply as the Service is free.

10. Privacy

We store your username, email, and server configuration data to operate the Service. We do not sell your personal data to third parties. Sponsor advertisement images and redirect URLs are manually reviewed but sponsor companies are separate entities.

11. Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. In no event shall Zomboid Host be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.

12. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. We will attempt to notify users of material changes via email.

13. Sponsorship & Advertising

Companies wishing to advertise in the Premium Partner slot must comply with our Sponsor Guidelines. All ads are reviewed before publication. We do not accept ads for unlawful products, gambling services (without license), adult content, or malware.
